I am both tired and exhausted right now. Last night I started my numerical method assignment (LU decomposition of a square matrix) at around 10.15pm. There was a power cut at 10.22 and I had to wait a whole hour for the power to be restored!

I struggled for two hours and came up with a long, weak code that runs only conditionally. We were instructed to make it as much failsafe as possible. So I was pretty worried about the lab on the next morning. But all’s well that ends well. My code faltered several times but every time off-record (i.e. behind the back of the teacher). It behaved wonderfully in front of him and he was too occupied with the gorgeous interactive code of my partner.

But I am not satisfied at all and I’ll give it a second try. I think now I understand the whole thing much better. But my classmates are just superhumans. One guy(Gaffar Ali, note the name, you’ll hear it in future) wrote a code that is faster than the built-in MATLAB code (which doesn’t even match my result!). We advised him to send it to MATLAB. Things like this can be disheartening instead of encouraging.

I think I need a sleep…

I am not very good at programming. I foresee a long spaghetti code. But it’s crazy to know that all these things can be done by a single MATLAB command inv(A) grrr…
